Lil' Locavore Learning Series

LO·ca·vore : one who eats food grown locally whenever possible

We're making sure this year's High Country Farm Tour is fun for kids of all ages.  We strongly believe in the importance of educating children about where their food comes from, how it is grown, and how AWESOME farmers are!

The Lil' Locavore Learning Series will Feature:

Picture
1) Lil' Locavore Stops: check out the Farm Tour Guide for the Lil' Locavore symbol which indicates farms with particular kid-appeal. Remember, all farms have something important to share and to teach but a few will have something special for our younger community members.
2) Lil' Locavore Activity Book: "Join Vermi the Worm While on the Farm Tour!": BRWIA has teamed up with Trudie Henninger, an environmental education specialist from the North Carolina Arboretum, to bring you a COMPLIMENTARY fun-filled, information-packed activity book!  You can find the books at each Lil' Locavore Stop on the tour.
Activities Include:
  • Collect animal stickers from each Lil' Locavore Farm Stop to decorate a farm page
